Danish District Heating Association (Dansk Fjernvarme) was founded in 1957 with the aim of organising Danish district heating companies; facilitate cooperation between the companies and lobby for their interests towards authorities and other organisations.
Danish District Heating Association has a little more than 400 members all over Denmark. 55 are municipally owned district heating companies, which deliver around 62 % of all district heating, and the rest are predominantly consumer owned cooperatives and a handful of private companies. Members supply 62 % of Danish households (1.6 million) with district heating and cover around 49 % of space heating demand in all buildings.
Danish District Heating is financed by member’s fees, which are calculated according to heat sales. Income from member’s fees was €2.46 million in 2011. Further income is generated by meetings, training courses, publishing, projects etc. Total turnover in 2011 was almost €5.1 million.
Our mission
Danish District Heating Association promotes the interests of the members in a visible and efficient manner, on basic aims of environmental protection, energy efficiency and security of supply, and with due consideration to the economy and district heating consumers. That is done by:
- Influencing rules and conditions of production, transmission, distribution and sales of district heating in Denmark
- Contributing to the development of district heating
